Five Google Website Ranking Tips

Most Google ranking tips deal with getting incoming links (or backlinks as they are also referred to) to your website.
And for good reason. The more quality incoming links (determined by the rank of the site that the link originates from and the relevance of the keyword) you have, the higher your Google Page Rank will be and the more visible you will be to your prospects and/or customers. Here are some tricks to build your incoming links.
  1. Submit your site to search engine directories. Some directories charge a fee but many of them are free. If you’re on a tight budget, stick to the free ones. These can get you some free links back to your website. Sign up with as many as you can. The more links you have into your site, the better your page rank.
  2. This is one of the most overlooked but best of Google ranking tips. Join forums that are relevant to your industry. When you participate in forums and include the link to your website in your signature, you will get links back to your website. This is a very effective way to establish your reputation in your industry and raise your page rank at the same time.
  3. Create an ezine (or newsletter). Taking the time to create a newsletter that you can send out to subscribers is definitely worth it. This keeps your visitors up to date with what you are doing and brings them back to visit your website on a consistent basis. You can also submit your ezine to an ezine directory which will link back to your website and give you more free incoming links. Take advantage of article marketing. If you can create (or hire someone to do it for you) articles that pertain to your business, with your website information at the bottom, and submit them to article directories, you will get more traffic and links.
  4. Ask for links from other related sites’ webmasters. This is a rather “old-school” tactic but is still effective, albeit frustrating and time-consuming. Find sites that are related to your industry and write to their webmasters requesting that they link back to you. Some will not answer you. Some will say “no”. Some will ask you to link to them as well. And others will just link to you.
  5. You have higher chances of getting the results you want with this if your site contains valuable information. While your ultimate goal is to have high-rank sites linking to yours, you can start out with any rank (as long as the content is valuable and relevant to what you have to offer). As you bring in more links, your rank will go up as well and you will be able to attract the higher ranking sites.
Hopefully these five Google ranking tips will help you achieve the ranking and traffic you’re aiming for.

Confessions of a blogger….

Firstly I want to say a real big sorry, for not keeping the blog updated. You see I discovered that I am human after all and with all the best intentions in the world.

I simply failed with my first intention of keeping the blog updated on a daily basis for the first 21 days.

So yes I admit it I failed.

I have made one of the biggest and a most fundamental faux pas or mistake in creating an online blog and that is not keeping it updated regularly.

You see, I have learned from this, and this makes it apparent that you know I am indeed human and I am going through this process too. You see I am not perfect, and I expect many of you aren’t too?

I must admit I had the best intentions in the world at the beginning, but the subconscious brain then triggered into action and told me that I needed to go for perfection each time before I submit any further blog posts. Don’t worry I am not some kind of strange idiot that argues with himself (please don’t tell me brain I said that), but a human being who is not perfect but has the desire to share information.

So what have I learned from this, after all that is what I do, if I identify a problem I instinctively come up with solution?

  1. Create your blog posts around your life style and working habits, don’t try to force the blogging into your lifestyle, because your subconscious mind will sabotage your efforts, no matter what your intentions are. Based upon this knowledge I will now create a batch of pre-written blog posts a week in advance and schedule them to be published within the built-in feature of WordPress, as I’m a ‘strike while the iron is hot’ kind of guy.
  2. Use the built-in proofreader within WordPress to identify fundamental grammar and spelling mistakes. When I read some of my previous posts, I was startled at the number of errors that I saw and this is when the subconscious mind kicked in to protect me, because it knows I am a perfectionist and simple spelling mistakes don’t instil great confidence in my writing ability.
  3. Let go of perfection. Yes I am telling my brain that too! I am writing this to share information and not provide lessons on grammar and spelling. When I read an article I look for the information first and if I see some minor errors, I usually ignore them and anyway I am hoping with this journey I will get better in time and therefore the issue of perfectionism will disappear.
  4. I love WordPress. I have found myself singing the praises of WordPress, to anyone that will listen. Why? It is due to the simple fact it encompasses so much functionality and an infinite number of flexible ways it can be used, with what is fundamentally a FREE package. How wonderful. Also it has a great and helpful user community of users and developers. I would recommend the use of WordPress to everyone considering creating an online presence or as I like to call them e-Business assets.
  5. Just Flipping Do It (JFDI) or Take Some Action Now (TAN) sometimes we think of all the negatives and listen to the voices in the head, that tell us we aren’t good enough or that we don’t know enough, so we’re constantly researching and learning, without the doing. No matter the amount of theory or preparation you have in your head, it is only with ACTION you truly can make things happen.
  6. If you slip on a promise, just acknowledge it and renew your intention to start again, because it is the JOURNEY not the destination that will enrich you ultimately.
  7. Post a minimum of 4 posts a week, you are now in a position to serve, now that you have made the commitment to blog. My job now is to constantly add value to those who I choose to share valuable information with, it is that simple.

I think that is it for lessons learnt. Thanks for reading this and I hope my lessons has created some value to you.

So the big question is what action are you going to do?

Please leave a comment or share the love with someone with the buttons below this post.

What is e-Business?

My thought of the day is:

“Each day I move closer to my dream”

What is my passion?

Well I feel so privileged and fortunate to be writing about a subject I feel so passionate about (Creating what I call e-Business Assets) and over time you will see that I am true to this subject, as I’ve been involved in one way or another for the last 15 years with the Internet and yes I will tell you the stories in coming posts.

Each day I’m constantly learning new things and picking up new ideas. If I’m being honest this has created a bit of an internal conflict within myself, as I also want to share constantly at the same time. Thinking of all the subjects that I would consider useful to you, or where I can add value to you, whether you’re thinking of creating a new  e-Business asset or you have one set-up already but not quite sure what to do with it next (if it isn’t generating cash then it is a liability).

What is an e-Business Asset?

Notice that I refer to the e-Business, as an asset because if you’ve read any of the rich dad poor dad books (Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money-That the Poor and the Middle Class Do Not!) you would have basically learnt that an assets puts money in your pocket and a liability take money away from you when you’re not working.

After all this is the reason why we’ve created an e-Business, so that it becomes an asset and creates long-term passive income.

After writing a few posts this week I thought it would be really beneficial to start from the ground up and build our knowledge from solid foundations, so I started to mind map my thoughts on what type of subjects need to be covered in upcoming posts so I created the following diagram below (something that you will quickly learn I am a big fan of because it allows me clarify my thoughts all in one place):

E Business Mindmap 300x225 What is e Business?

Anyway tomorrow I’m going to start from what I feel is the foundation and that is the subject of blogging for e-Business, fundamentally what is it and why is it important to you and your e-Business moving forward.

A light hearted look at Social Media

Sometimes it is really good to look at the world in a light-hearted manner. Instead of looking at all the serious business stuff. I have shared some things that I’ve seen on the Internet that has made me chuckle.

Please enjoy and let me know what you think.

Do push button systems work?

If you are like me you probably receive a considerable amount of e-mail that tell you about the next ’money magic creator software ×’ and by pressing one key on your keyboard it will double your income tomorrow, or that this software will automate the creation of your online empire by creating website that will literally pump money into your bank account and send you cheques on a daily basis and of course, how can I miss out the fact you will become a zillionaire in 24 hours?

ecommercepushbutton 269x300 Do push button systems work?

E-Commerce Push Button System

How irresponsible of me?

OK, alright. I may be exaggerating a little but you get the point, because each time I see these e-mails, it really grates at my very being, because they are irresponsible and so I ask myself who really beliefs this stuff anyway?

I mean I know, you can’t ignore that these are immensely economic challenging times (and hopefully we will not see something as bad for generations to come, this is of course based upon the assumption we will learn from all of this) so message contained within these e-mails have very tempting messages to the person looking for instant gratification or looking for quick solution to their financial problems. Also the silver bullet hunters, individuals that have aspirations in becoming the next Donald Trump through the Internet over night. I mean, to be honest, it is only human nature to seek the easiest track or road to travel the path of least resistance. As I write this, I’m questioning whether there is any reality or sanity in the hope of becoming the next instant millionaire, just by using someone’s software product ‘x’?

You know, I thought about this for all of 2 ms, and I think not! This is so stupid, so why produce this misinformation?

The simple answer is, it is human nature as I’ve discussed previously, for every quick rich scheme there will always be willing buyers and that is a fact.

With greed being the root cause of all economic bubbles, I am afraid the market for these get quick schemes will not go away, because they’ve been in existence for hundreds of years from the tulip mania, the California Gold Rush, The Great Depression, The Internet Bubble to the current Credit Crunch, they all had a great rich scheme at their root, where money was being made for no or very little effort.

The all have another thing in common they all weren’t sustainable in the long-term.

The thing you need to ask yourself is whether you wish to create a business that generates $10,000 in one night and then collapses the following day or do you want to build a business that generates a $1000 dollars a week for the rest of your life?

I know which one I would go for, which business do you want to create?

My last point is this. In the California Gold Rush, the only truly successful entrepreneurs, you know the people who really made the serious impressive amounts of money, were the ones who provided the tools to the gold prospectors. Quite a sobering thought but true, so when you see all these great get rich quick software tools you have to think to yourself whether this a new concept, because it is  being offered on the Internet?

Know your perspective and existing clients 101

Knowing your customer, or at least building a picture or a profile of your ideal prospect, is one of the first and best  things, you could ever do. I would even go as far as saying, it is an essential aspect when you are planning your online e-Business. I mean you don’t have to go all super complicated and start writing strategic marketing plans that define customer demographics and segmentation models.
After all, this needs to be simple and a quick to formulate and implement and will tell you exactly what needs to be done in my next posting.

What is the foundation of your e-Business Part II

In one of my previous posts, I discussed about the necessity of creating a good e-Business foundation.
ecommerceplanning 300x243 What is the foundation of your e Business Part II
I mean what is the very first thing you are supposed to do, when you’re considering your online future success, after all there isn’t a published manual and it isn’t being taught at school (well at least for the moment and is the subject for a different post in the future anyway)?
Well that said the sad reality is that most people go straight into the cool and fun stuff first, so they launch into creative and start creating the website, designing the logo, with a view of creating the next cool website, that looks absolutely fabulous, so that they can show their new clients and friends, how cool and creative they really are.
Does this sound all too familiar?
You see I know this process and feeling very well, as I started with exactly the same thought process and have started and created more websites than I care to think about, following exactly this thought process, after all we’re told or at least given the impression by creating our websites things will start magically happening, it still pains me to remember the first time I got someone to create me a company website, I personally payed $5000 for a 5 page website and was told after that what a great bargain I was getting.., what an idiot I was !
The truth is I’ve repeated the same error many times, been there and worn the t-shirt too many times. I call this HOPE Website creation, because it is built on the hope of some miracle happening.
So what is the first thing you must do when you have this great idea and you have the inclination to create a website on the back of HOPE website creation, well STOP and take a deep breath and follow these steps:
Step One: Create a plan.
Yes that’s right, it is that simple, I mean would you ever consider building a house without planning it first or even take a vacation without planning where you would like to go first? I mean it sounds like common sense right, when I put it that way right? So tell me why we don’t do that with our new websites?
Creating a plan that defines where we wish to go with our marketing/sales machine, after all that is what the website should become, an asset.
In my next post I will explain in more detail, why this is really quite important and I’ll raise some interesting questions that you need to answer honestly and completely before you launch into the fun stuff (not saying that this isn’t, but you get my point).

What will be the foundation of your e-Business?

Yes I’ve been in one of those moods again. Today I thought rather than launch straight into the WordPress setup, (which I am still intending in doing by the way and let me say I have some great goodies planned when I do, so stay posted).

But I thought I should start at the beginning before launching into WordPress and the website setup, after all that is the fun part, not distracting from this part which in my humble opinion is just as fun but is one of the most critical parts of your e-Business launch.

MindMapEbusinessFoundations 225x300 What will be the foundation of your e Business?

So I decided that I wanted to make sure that the foundations were being laid, so I thought I should brain storm and mindmap some

initial thoughts for a post I want to write tomorrow, so before I do that here is a copy of the napkin, I’ve just scribbled.

I will write an article around this tomorrow.

What is it that motivates you?

I was thinking today, well more like a ponder and I saw something that was posted on my facebook wall….

The question was, “What is it that makes me wake up in the morning and feel that it is worth the struggle?”

Another one that often crosses my mind in the dark hours is, “Do we work to live or live to work?”

That is the question, my Shakespearian brothers and sisters.

Well when I’m in one the those types of moods I often find it really beneficial to seek outside sources of motivation, you know the things (sights or sounds) that lift the spirits, that often can justify the long hours, the constant belief in self and the days when you feel that your two steps forward are rewarded with another three steps back. Yes we’ve all been there and yes it does start to weigh you down. Well you wouldn’t be human, would you if you didn’t feel that way, but you’re committed right?

Yes you are, because you have drive and determination to succeed and it will happen, with the right attitude.

Anyway now that I’ve got of my soapbox, I thought I want to share this video from someone if I’m to be honest I didn’t think of as a motivational speaker, a great actor, yes. Someone who strikes me as having great principles and true to themselves and this person is Will Smith, watch the video and tell me you don’t feel inspired.

Actually  I dare you not to feel inspired by it. Enjoy!

To your continued success!
